People-first operations consulting
for small, independent businesses

polaroid of office door: Department of Strategic Operations.Project management, promotions, customer service, daily admin, working with your team… It can be overwhelming. And it might seem more complicated than it needs to be.

As a marketing strategist, website builder, and seasoned business owner, I also have a solid background in business and nonprofit management and customer service.

Here’s how I help businesses and organizations like yours:

Operations consulting

  • Assess your processes to see what’s unclear and what’s slowing y0u down;
  • Review your tech to see what might be causing friction (your tech tools should work for you, not the other way around);
  • Work with your team, if you have one, to see where they hit speedbumps;
  • And tidy all of that up so everyone – even if it’s just you – are able to do your best work. Because that’s what y0u’re here to do.

Project management

  • Work with you and your team (if you have one) to establish long-term and short-term milestones and a smart, flexible workflow;
  • Collaborate on your process to help you stay on track, aligning with the way you work (your process should never be about any consultant’s preferences);
  • Create a repeatable process for future projects, customized for the way you work best – and that evolves with your business.

Marketing strategy

  • Brainstorm ideas for a specific campaign and your overall marketing strategy;
  • Work with you and your team to implement tactics (and demystify the difference between strategy and tactics, which can be confusing for even seasoned business owners);
  • Review your results to help you create a short- and long-term marketing plan designed to reach your best customers and respect your capacity to deliver.

“Stacey Cornelius transformed the face of my business.

She tackled multiple complex projects for me, from building a new coaching/course offer from scratch, to completely rebranding my flagship business. Her ability to think on her feet and keep projects moving along smoothly was invaluable.

Even better, her built-in empathy for customers and team members alike means you get a powerful partner to help you build, deploy, and sustain anything you can dream of in your business.

Who this is for

Small independent businesses and nonprofits are my specialty. If you find yourself in any of these situations, we should talk.

  • You’re too busy working day-to-day to give your business/organization development the attention it deserves.
  • You want help with operations (you know, the essential stuff that takes time and energy away from building relationships) but don’t need someone full-time.
  • You believe there’s a better way to do business – that your people are paid well, there’s a culture of mutual respect, and the health of everyone involved is just as important as your financial bottom line – and you want someone to work with to make sure that all goes smoothly.

If that resonates, let’s talk about how we can work together.

You’re never “too small” to work with an operations consultant

I get it. “Operations Consultant” sounds corporate. Words can be a little complicated sometimes. I’m the opposite of corporate. I can speak the language (think: grant applications), but I’m not a fan of formality.

Here’s what that means in the Agency of Words world: I help you get your business systems, processes, and tech tools working for you and y0ur people.

You get an in-house, offsite strategic partner who understands that people have their own unique ways of working.

We’ll create an approach that fits your business: a renewable retainer or fixed-term project. Let’s talk more about your business ops needs.
