HACKMATACK CHILDREN’S CHOICE BOOK AWARD

The Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Award is a nonprofit organization based in Nova Scotia, Canada. Hackmatack runs a literacy program for thousands of children in Grades 4-6 every year, who read and vote on a selection of 40 shortlisted Canadian books in French and English.

I created a clean, bilingual site in WordPress that doesn’t require a technical wizard to update and is easy for reading group leaders, young readers, and busy parents to navigate.

I developed an online registration system complete with a password-protected area for registered reading clubs and updated project kit collateral. I also created an online awards presentation for the 2020 awards when the in-person ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My ongoing work with Hackmatack includes promotional videos to attract new reading clubs and to appeal to potential donors and sponsors.
